KABUL: A Herat-based yarn production company proudly reports that it has generated job opportunities for nearly 2,500 women.

The company officials are optimistic that with sufficient support, they can extend these opportunities even further.

Sayed Hassan Husseini, the deputy of the yarn production company, states, “Currently, we have 2,450 women working with us.” These women often serve as the primary breadwinners for their families, relying on the income provided by the company to sustain their households.

Zewar, one of the company’s employees, shares, “We are grateful for this job opportunity. We are economically disadvantaged, and my husband is unable to work due to age-related limitations.”

Kubra, another employee, adds, “Our aim is to work diligently here and secure funds for our children’s education and basic necessities.”

Ruqya, also an employee, expresses, “We are in dire need, and our husbands struggle to find employment due to a scarcity of job opportunities.”

It is noteworthy that most of these women lack formal education; however, their employment with the company has enabled them to earn a livelihood.

Simultaneously, concerns have been raised by some entrepreneurs regarding the challenges of exporting the yarn abroad and its diminished value in domestic markets.
