Quetta: As many as three people have died and one injured as the roof of a house collapsed in Kharan district of Balochistan. The province has been grappling with the aftermath of heavy downpours, which have also caused flooding in various areas, including Gwadar, Jiwani, Surbandar, and Ormara. Amid the crisis, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, alongside the National Highway Authority, has been mobilizing heavy machinery to keep roads open. The Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and other departments have joined hands in conducting rescue and relief operations, particularly in Gwadar, Jiwani, and Surbandar to assist the people.
Relief efforts have been multifaceted, with teams of doctors setting up free medical camps to provide immediate healthcare to affected people. Over 12,000 people have received medical treatment and essential medicines in these camps. The Pakistan Navy has also been actively taking part in rescues efforts, rescuing those trapped in flash floods and relocating them to safer places.
Meanwhile, in Jiwani, Gwadar, and Sar Bandar, relief efforts are in full swing, led by the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and civil administration. Medical teams have been deployed to offer basic healthcare facilities to flood victims, with over 1,200 patients treated so far.
Additionally, efforts are underway to restore essential transportation infrastructure and repair affected roads. Pakistan Army has distributed rations to hundreds of families in the Gwadar district and is working on relocating flood-affected individuals to safe places. The collaborative efforts of the armed forces and civil administration have been widely appreciated by the local community for their swift and effective response in the face of this natural disaster.
