ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Kalat experienced rain with winds and thunderstorms, while heavy rain was also recorded at some places during the last 24 hours.
According to PMD, in Punjab province, Attock has received 125 mm of rain while 120 mm rain has been recorded in Jhelum during last 24 hours. PMD said that Lahore has received 101 mm rain at airport and 66 mm at city.
In Islamabad, 96 mm rain has been recorded at Golra, 90 mm at Saidpur, 62 mm at Airport, the PMD reported. In Rawalpindi, Katcheri has received 88 mm while Gawalmandi 52 mm rain.
GLOF alert
72 mm rain has been recorded in Mangla, 70 mm in Sheikhupura, 64 mm in Narowal, 41 mm in Mianwali, and 43 mm in Faisalabad, according to PMD.
PMD said that Muzaffarabad has received 49 mm at Airport, and 44 mm at the city.
Earlier, on July, 22, PMD issued a Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) alert in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan in the current week.

It said that during the period, scattered rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy falls, are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The prevailing weather conditions increase the risk of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), flash floods, and landslide events in vulnerable glaciated regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” it said.
All concerned are advised to remain alert and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation.
