ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that heat wave-like conditions will prevail in most parts of Pakistan from June 20 to 24. The high pressure in the upper atmosphere is expected to contribute to the rising temperatures during this period.
According to the PMD, temperatures will gradually increase in various regions of the country due to the presence of high pressure in the upper atmosphere. Daytime temperatures are predicted to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal in upper and central Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. In Sindh, South Punjab, and parts of Balochistan, temperatures are expected to be 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal.
Dust Storms and Isolated Rain Expected in Pakistan
During this period, there may be occasional dust storms, thunderstorms, and isolated pockets of rain in the plains and hilly areas of the country.
The PMD highlighted that the rise in temperature would likely lead to increased demand for power and water. Farmers are advised to manage the watering of their crops accordingly, while the general public is urged to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight. Furthermore, citizens are encouraged to use water judiciously in all aspects of life.
As Pakistan prepares for the heat wave-like conditions, it is crucial for individuals and authorities to take necessary precautions to mitigate the potential risks associated with extreme temperatures.
