VISAKHAPATNAM, India: Australia Women produced a commanding display to thrash Bangladesh Women by 10 wickets in the 17th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, chasing down a modest target of 199 with remarkable ease and 151 balls to spare at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh managed 198 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs, a total largely built around a fighting 66 from Sobhana Mostary*, who held the innings together amid regular dismissals at the other end.

Rubya Haider chipped in with 44 off 59 balls, while Fargana Hoque (8) and skipper Nigar Sultana (12) fell cheaply as Bangladesh struggled to build momentum.

Australia’s bowlers were disciplined and effective, with Alana King (2/18) starring in a miserly 10-over spell that included four maidens.

She was well-supported by Annabel Sutherland (2/41), Ashleigh Gardner (2/48), and Georgia Wareham (2/22), as Bangladesh failed to accelerate despite a flurry of extras (22 wides).

In reply, Australia’s openers Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield made light work of the chase.

Healy, in imperious form, smashed 113 not out off 77 balls, peppered with 20 boundaries, while Litchfield played the perfect partner, striking 84 not out off 72 balls with 12 fours and a six.

The pair raced to 202 without loss in just 24.5 overs, sealing one of the most dominant victories of the tournament so far.

Bangladesh’s bowlers had no answers to the relentless Australian assault, with none of the six bowlers able to make a breakthrough.

With this win, Australia Women remain unbeaten and continue to reinforce their status as title favourites. Bangladesh, despite flashes of promise from Mostary and Haider, will need to regroup quickly to stay in contention.
