ISLAMABAD: A health expert on Sunday warned that sedentary lifestyles, stress, unhealthy eating habits, and obesity are the primary causes behind young people’s developing cardiac issues, and heart strokes are the main causes of death, claiming millions of lives each year around the world.
Senior cardiologist retired Major General Dr Azhar Mahmood Kayani, talking to the state-run news channel, said that an increasing number of heart attacks among the youth has raised serious concern among medical practitioners and pre-disposed or genetic conditions in today’s young generations.
He also advised that youth in their 30s with a family history of cardiovascular diseases should undergo medical checkups regularly.
The expert said that the younger generation is unaware of health risks and the perception among young people that they are in their best of health, which often leads to their issues remaining undiagnosed as they believe that they are in full health and do not need any medications or diagnosis.
He said that moderation in food and regular walking are the simplest yet most valuable habits that people can inculcate to reduce the risk of their heart problems considerably.
How to Reduce Risk of Heart Attacks
He added that every person has a different body makeup and has a different ability to bear the stress, but staying physically active and maintaining a proper lifestyle are the best things one can do to reduce the risk of heart attacks.

Dr Azhar strongly recommended that people not ignore early warning signs such as breathlessness, excessive sweating, dizziness, chest pain, etc., and seek timely medical care.
He said that youngsters should eat healthily and avoid foods laden with fat. Choosing healthier food options can make a world of difference to the health of the heart.
