LOS ANGELES, USA: Hurricane Hone, a Category 1 storm, passed by Hawaii’s Big Island on Sunday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and dangerous coastal conditions.

With sustained winds of 80 miles per hour, the storm caused significant disruptions, including beach closures and power outages affecting over 23,000 residents.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned of life-threatening surf and rip currents, with rainfall expected to reach up to eight inches. Although Hone is gradually moving away, another threat looms as Hurricane Gilma, a Category 3 storm, approaches, though it is expected to weaken before potentially impacting the islands.

The situation highlights the ongoing vulnerability of Hawaii to severe weather events and the need for continued preparedness as the Pacific hurricane season progresses.
