WASHINGTON, USA: Vice President Kamala Harris has surged ahead of former President Donald Trump by 9 points among young voters, according to a new SocialSphere poll.

This significant shift comes after Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential race. The poll, conducted by SocialSphere Inc. and released by the Democratic super PAC Won’t Pac Down, surveyed registered voters aged 18-29 in key battleground states.

Harris received 51% support in a two-way race against Trump, who garnered 42% among young voters. This marks a 13-point swing toward Harris since the last poll in early July, where Trump led this demographic. In a five-way race, Harris maintained her lead with 42% support, compared to Trump’s 33%, with the remaining candidates, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, and Jill Stein, each receiving single-digit support.

Harris’s approval rating also saw a substantial increase, rising 16 points since July to 49%, surpassing Trump’s 40%. This surge is reflected in other polls as well, including a Morning Consult poll that showed Harris leading Trump by 9 points among voters under 35. The growing support from young voters is a positive sign for Harris’s campaign as she continues to bolster the Democratic base ahead of the 2024 election.
