WASHINGTON, USA: Vice President Kamala Harris reaffirmed U.S. support for Ukraine while indirectly criticizing Donald Trump for his stance on the conflict with Russia.

Speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the White House, Harris emphasized that any proposals suggesting Ukraine should cede land for peace were tantamount to “proposals of surrender,” which she deemed dangerous and unacceptable.

Without naming him directly, Harris targeted Trump’s recent comments, in which he suggested that Ukraine should have made a deal with Russia to end the war sooner.

Trump, who is running for president again, has consistently questioned U.S. financial aid to Ukraine, calling it wasteful. He also implied that President Zelenskiy had failed by not negotiating a deal with Russia, claiming that any agreement would have been better than the current situation. Harris, on the other hand, pledged continued U.S. support to ensure Ukraine’s victory and lasting peace.

Trump is set to meet Zelenskiy in New York, marking their first face-to-face meeting since Trump left office in 2021. This ongoing debate reflects a key divide in U.S. political approaches to the war in Ukraine.
