Harris Calls Trump After Assassination Bid

WASHINGTON:  Vice President Harris has called former President Trump for a quick conservation after the apparent second assassination attempt against him, local media reported.

According to a White House official, Kamila Harris expressed to Donald Trump that she is glad he is safe and sound.  The official termed the conversation as cordial and brief.

Harris told the media persons that she told Donlad Trump that there is no place for political violence in the US.  She added that she in this race for many reasons, including to fight for the democracy and in a democracy, there is no room for political violence.

Trump and Harris met for the first time on the debate stage last week and were together again on Wednesday in New York City for the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Trump and President Joe Biden also spoke on Monday, and the Republican candidate called the conservation “a very nice call,” adding that the two focused on Secret Service protection.

Earlier on Monday, Donald Trump directly alleged Kamila Harris and Joe Biden for the latest incident, claiming that their rhetoric inspired violence against him. President Biden has said that the Secret Service “needs more help” and called on the Congress to reply to the needs.

Donald Trump was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Sunday when agents of the Secret Service noticed a person with an AK-style rifle on the perimeter of the course.

According to American media, Ryan Wesley Routh, was charged Monday with two-gun crimes following allegedly pushing the rifle’s muzzle through the fence along the course. An agent fired at the suspect, who then fled in a vehicle and was later arrested traveling from Palm Beach County into Martin County on Interstate 95.
