LAHORE, Pakistan: Mohammad Haris smashed his maiden T20 international century to lead Pakistan to a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the third and final match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, completing a 3-0 series whitewash — their first in the format since December 2021.

Chasing a formidable target of 197, Pakistan faced early trouble as opener Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for just one run in the opening over by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

However, Haris and Saim Ayub steadied the innings with a fluent 92-run partnership for the second wicket.

Both batters attacked the Bangladesh bowlers from the outset, lifting the home side to 56-1 at the end of the powerplay.

Haris displayed aggressive intent and reached his half-century in the 11th over, while Saim contributed 45 off 29 balls before falling to Tanzim Hasan.

Hasan Nawaz provided a quick cameo of 26 off 13 deliveries, but his departure at 137-3 in the 13th over did little to slow the chase.

Haris continued his onslaught, racing to his century in just 45 balls and finishing unbeaten on 107 off 46 balls, including eight fours and seven sixes.

Skipper Agha Salman supported with 14 not out as Pakistan sealed the win in 17.1 overs.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss and opted to bat first.

The visitors made a strong start, with openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan putting on 100 runs in 10.4 overs.

Emon reached his half-century off 27 balls and was eventually dismissed for 66 off 34 balls by Shadab Khan. Tanzid scored 42 off 32 before falling to Faheem Ashraf.

Bangladesh kept up the pressure through Towhid Hridoy and Litton Das, who guided the team past 150 in the 15th over.

Hasan Ali broke the stand by removing Das for 22, while Abbas Afridi claimed the wicket of Shamim Hossain soon after.

Jakeer Ali added late fireworks with an unbeaten 15 off nine balls, and with brief support from Tanzim Hasan Sakib (8 not out), Bangladesh posted their highest-ever T20I total against Pakistan — 196-6.

Hasan Ali and Mehidy Hasan picked up two wickets each, with Faheem, Shadab and Abbas taking one apiece.

Mohammad Haris was named Player of the Match for his career-best knock, while Pakistan captain Agha Salman praised the team’s all-round performance, saying the players had “executed plans with confidence”.

The victory marked Pakistan’s first clean sweep in a T20I series since their triumph over the West Indies in 2021.
