BEIRUT: Hamas leader Osama Hamdan addressed the ongoing conflicts in several Middle Eastern countries, including Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria in a recent Press conference.
Hamdan expressed concern over what he termed as a continuous bombing campaign in these nations, describing it as a direct violation of their sovereignty and a significant threat to regional security.
Highlighting the importance of stability in the region, Hamdan emphasized the need to halt what he referred to as Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people. He called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the end of what he described as an oppressive occupation of Palestinian territories.
According to Hamdan, achieving stability in the region hinges on addressing the root causes of conflict, including the Israeli-Palestinian issue. He urged the international community, particularly the United States, to intervene to stop the aggression against the Gaza Strip, ensure justice for the Palestinian people, and recognize their rights, including the right to self-determination with Jerusalem as their capital.
Referring to the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip, Hamdan lamented the humanitarian crisis resulting from what he termed as a “Nazi aggression” against Gazans. He described the dire conditions faced by the Palestinian population, including women, children, the elderly, and the sick, who endure daily bombings, hunger, thirst, and disease.
Hamdan criticized the international community for what he perceived as a failure to intervene effectively to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He accused world powers of displaying double standards and called for greater action to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
As the conflict in the region persists, Hamdan warned of the worsening humanitarian situation, attributing it to ongoing bombings, infrastructure destruction, and the prevention of adequate relief aid reaching affected areas, particularly in northern Gaza.
The remarks made by Osama Hamdan underscore the complexities and challenges facing the Middle East, as various parties continue to grapple with longstanding conflicts and humanitarian crises.
