MAKKAH: Local officials said on Thursday that the Ministry of Commerce provided 71,671,000 food products for pilgrims in the Holy Site of Mina during the 1st day of Tashreeq.
As per Arab media reports, the food products included 39 million bottles of juice and dairy, 14,319,000 baked items, and 667,000 meals products.
71 Million Food Products Provided for Pilgrims
However, these items also included 17,251,000 bottles of water and 336,000 ice cube molds. The Ministry of Commerce is also monitoring to ensure food supply chains to contribute in increasing the volume of food items for pilgrims in the Holy sites and Makkah.
The Ministry field monitoring teams and staff will continue following up on the sale outlets and inspecting the items and the goods needed for the Hajj pilgrims.
The teams will also play their active role on all the commercial stalls in the central area of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Holy site of Mina to inspect on their compliance for the consumer protection regulation, as well as taking action in case of the violations.
