MADINAH: The holy city of Madinah warmly welcomed Iranian Pilgrims on Saturday as they arrived in the city to perform Hajj 2023. According to Arab media, the Passports Office at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah received the pilgrims, running the Iranian pilgrims’ entry process easily and smoothly.

Madinah Welcomes Iranian Pilgrims

The General Directorate of Passports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) expressed its complete readiness to professionally handle the procedures pilgrims need to carry out during the Hajj operation 1444 AH (2023) at airports, borders, and sea ports.

The office reaffirmed its resolve to use all its available resources in order to facilitate the entry of Hajj pilgrims, including the latest technological devices and instruments to streamline the Hajj operations. Millions of pilgrims will stream to the Kingdom from across the world over the next weeks for the first complete capacity Hajj season following the breakout of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

The first batches of pilgrims from foreign countries arrived in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah on May 22, which marks the start of the annual Hajj season.

The pilgrims from Malaysia, Bangladesh, and India arrived in Saudi Arabia under the ‘Makkah Route’ initiative.  Foreign pilgrims were not permitted to perform Hajj in 2020 and 2021 due to Coronavirus. However, pilgrims from across the world were permitted in a limited capacity in 2022 under certain restrictions.
