WASHINGTON: Multiple gunshots were fired at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto on Tuesday, prompting a police investigation, authorities said.
Toronto police said officers responded to reports of a firearm discharge at the diplomatic mission around 5:29 a.m. local time. No injuries were reported in the incident.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, police confirmed that evidence of a firearm discharge had been found at the scene. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect.

Police remain at the site as investigations continue, and a section of University Avenue in front of the consulate has been closed while officers collect evidence.
The incident comes just three days after a bomb exploded at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, in what local authorities believe may have been a terror-related attack.
Officials have not yet indicated whether the Toronto shooting is linked to the Oslo incident.
