ANKARA: Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that two masked gunmen shot one person dead during Sunday service at a church in Istanbul. Local officials said that they are making efforts to arrests the assailants.
Yerlikaya, who condemned the assault, said it took place about 0840 GMT at the Italian Santa Maria Catholic Church in the Sariyer district.

In a statement via social media said, “C.T., who was among those people attending the service, was the target of a gun attack by two masked men and sadly lost his life.”
Turkish authorities tend to not use the full names of victims or culprits of attacks. It was not immediately clear why the person was targeted. Footage and video from the church showed several police vehicles and an ambulance outside the compound.
