ISLAMABAD: Deputy Foreign Minister Russia Andrey Rudenko said late Monday that Moscow’s growing relations with Asia are a “nightmare” for the West and its “anti-Russian policy.”
Rudenko said this in an interview with Izvestia newspaper while adding that the main political and economic nightmare for the West within its strategic anti-Russian line was their dynamically developing relations with Asia.
He further said that Washington and its allies were not in a position to stop these relations from developing further, because most of the countries in the region do not need to follow the rules imposed by the West and were set to work in a non-toxic space of international cooperation.
“The priorities of the Asian nations, and we obviously see this, are other matters, such as co-development, the collective struggle against modern-day challenges and threats, the well-being and prosperity of the people,” he said.
Relations with Asia
He underlined that Russia’s relations with China are developing and said Moscow will approach countries that have taken “unfriendly” actions against Russia with a different approach rather than a black-and-white policy.
Rudenko also said that Russia sees the possible prospects for the expansion of the BRICS, adding that all aspects of Moscow’s relations with the ASEAN bloc are developing with the passage of time.
“We develop healthy contacts in the fields of economy, energy, security matters, education, tourism, healthcare, and volunteering. These issues are most relevant and understandable for all. Therefore, we do not need to oppose something to someone,” he added.
