Govt to Exercise Zero Tolerance for Violence Spreaders: Pakistan’s PM

LAHORE: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, said that the state would not tolerate violence and bloodshed in the name of political, ethnic, and religious differences. 

During an interaction with university students, he declared that no one should be granted a license to kill based on such differences, affirming the state’s responsibility to ensure law and order.

Responding to questions, the prime minister stated that those resorting to conflict with the state and fellow citizens would face a fitting response. He assured that elements promoting violence would not prevail in Pakistan.

Regarding governance, Prime Minister Kakar highlighted the importance of an effective revenue system. He pointed out that tax evasion exceeded the country’s tax collection, emphasizing the need for a robust tax system to strengthen the economy.

Concerning Gaza, the prime minister condemned Israel’s brutal actions and stated that Pakistan actively engaged with international forums, urging them to stop the senseless war. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and called for a humanitarian corridor.

State’s Right to Respond to Violence: PM Kakar

On the Balochistan protest, he defended law enforcement actions, stating that the use of water cannon was criticized despite its common use in the European Union. The prime minister affirmed the right to peaceful protests but emphasized the enforcement of laws when parameters were violated.

Responding to concerns about the judicial system, Prime Minister Kakar acknowledged issues and stressed the need for equal application of laws. He discussed the transitional phase of democracy in Pakistan and encouraged genuine debate and solutions to address the country’s challenges.

On the issue of brain drain, the prime minister advised understanding the cycle of youngsters exploring opportunities abroad, considering them as assets for the country. He acknowledged the lack of good regulations in medical education and addressed mental health issues.

Prime Minister Kakar urged genuine solutions to national issues, emphasizing the importance of democracy. He underscored the state’s right to respond to violence perpetrated by non-state actors and terrorists in Balochistan.
