ISLAMABAD: In a sigh of relief for the masses, the federal government on Tuesday slashed the price of petrol by PKR 5 per litre to PPKR 267 per litre; however, the price of diesel will remain unchanged for the next fortnight to provide relief to the people.
Addressing a short presser tonight in Islamabad, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said these prices would be applicable by midnight on March 1 (Wednesday).
The price of kerosene oil was slashed by PKR 15 per litre to PKR 187.73. Similarly, the price of Light Speed Diesel was reduced by PKR 12 per litre to PKR 186.86 per litre.
“Kerosene oil’s current price of PKR 202.73 is being brought to PKR 187.73 after a reduction of PKR 15. Light-diesel, which is at PKR 196.68, is being brought to PKR 184.68 after a reduction of PKR 12,” Ishaq Dar said.
Petrol and diesel prices
Ishaq Dar said the new price of petrol was now PKR 267 per litre from PKR 272. He added that the price of high-speed diesel would remain unchanged at PKR 280 per litre.
He said that the government decided to revise existing prices “in view of the declining price trend of petroleum products in global markets and to transform the impact to the masses.”
