KARACHI: A delegation of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday appreciated Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori for advocating Karachi Chamber’s stance against inflated electricity bills during his meeting with the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar and other relevant authorities.
In a joint statement issued, Chairman BMG Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairmen BMG Tahir Khaliq, Haroon Farooki, Anjum Nisar and Jawed Bilwani and other business leaders said that Governor Sindh discussed some of the most pressing problems of Karachi, especially the inflated electricity bills which were unaffordable and unbearable for the business community, shopkeepers, small traders, and inhabitants of the city.
They said that the governor held detailed discussions with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar, and Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali and conveyed Karachi Chamber’s deep concerns over the unbearable electricity bills, which have affected the economic, trade, and commercial activities of Karachi.
Governor effectively presented KCCI’s suggestions
The business leaders said that they are also thankful to the governor for presenting KCCI’s suggestions in the meeting for efficiently dealing with the problem of inflated electricity bills.
They hoped that the meetings held in Islamabad to discuss the inflated electricity bills would soon yield fruits in the form of a substantial reduction in electricity tariffs, which was badly needed to save the economy, businesses, and the public from further disaster.
They added that keeping in view the overall inflationary scenario in the country, the government should be extraordinary careful in taking measures and try its best to refrain from further burdening the already overburdened industrial and trade community.
