PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Ghulam Ali met vice-chancellors of the public sector universities and discussed with them their administrative and financial issues.
The meeting was held at the Governor’s House. The VCs highlighted the problems facing their respective universities, the ban on recruitment, and improving the quality of education, and presented suggestions to this effect.
Universities’ financial status
According to Governor Ghulam Ali, the conference was called in order to learn more about the universities’ financial status. In his capacity as their chancellor, he instructed the VCs to obtain prior approval from his office before creating any need-based jobs.
He said that a committee would be formed to consider the suggestions of the VCs and prepare an action plan to improve the financial and education standards of the varsities.
The governor said that they have to set up such a system of higher education through mutual consultation in which they can provide quality education to youth so they can become a source of pride for the nation and country.
Representatives of the higher education, establishment departments, finance, and Higher Education Commission were also present on the occasion.
