ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has strongly condemned Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s recent inflammatory speech at PTI Jalsa, accusing him of inciting a situation similar to the events of May 9.

In a media briefing, Kundi described Gandapur’s public remarks as “disgraceful” and expressed concern over their potential to stir unrest. He urged the federal government to take immediate action against individuals who violated the law during recent protests.

Kundi also criticized Gandapur’s call for the release of Imran Khan from prison, labeling it as an anti-democratic move. He argued that such actions undermine the rule of law and foster chaos. Kundi mentioned that Gandapur had sought permission to appoint advisors, a request Kundi rejected, reaffirming his commitment to upholding the constitution.

The Governor highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in the southern districts where he claims the government’s authority is weakening. He alleged that most terrorist incidents occur in Gandapur’s district, suggesting either a failure to control or possible complicity with extremist elements.

Kundi called on Gandapur to seek a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly, arguing that he has lost public trust and is unable to maintain peace and order. He urged the Prime Minister and Federal Interior Minister to convene an emergency session to address the crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Reaffirming the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to democracy, Kundi condemned the violence and stressed that accountability should extend to all, including judges and generals. He criticized the federal government’s response, suggesting it should have acted more decisively against threats to state institutions.

Kundi concluded by warning Gandapur against his “ultimatum” and emphasized that he should not expect to evade accountability for his actions. He called on the federal government to act swiftly against those who broke the law and ensure that justice prevails.
