LAHORE: Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development, said on Thursday that five state-of-the-art- engineering universities would be built in the country with 7.5 billion rupees, as promoting modern education was the top priority of the government.
Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of the administrative block at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) here in Lahore, he said that the government would provide every laboratory at engineering educational institutions with the latest equipment to produce successful engineers.
The minister said that Bangladesh and India were far ahead of Pakistan in economic development and it was necessary for the students to focus on their studies and research to bring the country onward on the path of development.
He said that Pakistan is not an underdeveloped but an undermanaged country as it is still struggling despite great natural resources due to mismanagement.
Government saved country from bankruptcy
He said the country had to face loss of $300 billion due to climate change, but the government saved the country from bankruptcy.
He added that the political instability was adding up to the hardships faced by the common people. All the political parties should unite to bring the country out of the economic crisis.
