ISLAMABAD: The incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-led (PML-N) coalition government has decided to appoint former Senator and leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Haji Ghulam Ali as the new governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, according to the sources.
The ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties recently held a meeting and agreed on the name of the JUI-F leader, according to the sources with knowledge of the development. According to the reports, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has sent the summary for the appointment of Haji Ghulam Ali as governor of KP in this regard.
New KP Governor
The predecessor of Haji Ghulam Ali and leader of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Shah Farman resigned from the post after the end of former Prime Minister and PTI Chief Imran Khan’s government. After the resignation of Shah Farman from governorship, the position remained vacant and Speaker of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, is serving as an acting governor of KP as a constitutional requirement. The coalition parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) were unable to agree on the appointment of the KP governor for the past eight months.
