ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi on Saturday said the government was taking steps to make special persons productive citizens of the society.

In a video message for special persons, the President said 10 to 12 persons were disabled in the country, who needed to be facilitated by society.
President Dr. Arif Alvi addressed the participants of the concluding ceremony of a course held by the Global Rehabilitation Leadership Institute.

Dr. Arif Alvi said those with physical and mental deficiencies should be given admission to regular schools. He added that laws had been made at the federal and provincial levels to provide special persons jobs so that this important section of the society could become self-sufficient and take benefit from their abilities and skills.
The President said that National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and Technical and Vocational Training Authority were organizing the training of persons with disabilities in 140 sectors so that they could enhance their skills and get jobs.
