MULTAN: PML-N Senior Vice President and chief organizer Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said she acknowledged the misery and pain the public was going through in the face of inflation.

Addressing a PML-N workers convention in Multan, Maryam Nawaz said electricity, food, and gas everything is costly, adding the government is unhappy about it.

She said the people of Pakistan knew who had caused this inflation, adding the “watch thief” would not be spared.

When discussing the performance of her party’s previous governments, Maryam said that the country saw prosperity whenever former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was in power. If nine years of Nawaz Sharif’s governments were excluded, there would only be despair left to see.

Maryam said Nawaz Sharif provided relief to the people in all sectors. She said the way Nawaz did, in part, and he will again rid Pakistan of all the ills it faced.

Maryam Nawaz says she is proud of Nawaz Sharif

In reference to the incarceration of PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, Maryam said the PTI leaders were weeping after spending only two days in prison. She said, she is proud of her father, Nawaz Sharif, who spent months behind bars but never got nerves.

She said a politician did not weep or cry but stood firm. Taking a jibe at PTI falling out of favour with the military, Maryam said PTI leaders were doing politics on the crutches of a retired military officer and could not figure out what to do after that support had been withdrawn.

Maryam Nawaz claimed former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa had admitted his “blunder” by supporting PTI chairman Imran Khan. However, Maryam said, the admission was not enough; the former chief would have to remove this “blot” on politics.

Maryam remarked that Imran Khan was not a blunder but rather a “snake” protected by the “group of five people,” and now the same snake was biting these five people.

Commenting on Imran’s “stuff jail” movement, Maryam said the man who kept harping for four years regarding imprisoning his political opponents should first get his own bail cancelled. She stressed that he is ‘using’ party supporters, workers, and women as shields outside his residence in Zaman Park because of fear of arrest.

Addressing the same gathering, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah suggested Imran Khan begin his ‘jail bharo’ movement. He would be jailed in the same cell of the prison where PML-N leadership was imprisoned.

Dispelling what Rana called “propaganda” that the PML-N was not in favour of general elections, Rana Sanaullah said the party was ready and would sweep Punjab.

The interior minister said the PTI had done nothing since 2014 except long marches and protests.
