The function in Google Maps, similar to tracking features in messaging apps, offers enhanced capabilities.
Though messaging apps like Telegram and WhatsApp also have live location tracking, Google Maps distinguishes itself by giving more user-friendly and effective experience.
Users can share their real-time location, charging information, battery status, and estimated arrival time with their friends.
The feature compatible with Android and iOS, can be used by opening Google Maps, selecting the profile picture, and choosing the location-sharing option.
Once the process is done, a new window will open allowing users to choose individuals with whom they want to share their location.
Users can also customize sharing durations and can access the sharing link option. They can click the stop button to cease tracking.
