ODISHA, INDIA: The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has found gold deposits in three districts of Odisha state in India.
“The gold deposits have been discovered in different locations in Deogarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts. The preliminary survey by the GSI and geology directorate has confirmed the presence of gold reserves in these districts,” Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallik informed the Odisha Assembly on Monday.
Gold reserves have been discovered in Jashipur, Saraguda, Ruansi, Badampahar, Idelkucha and Suleipat (Dhusura hill) in Mayurbhanj district while the yellow metal reserves have been found in Adas in Deogarh district.
Similarly, gold deposits have been discovered in Gopur, Gazipur, Adal, Kusakala and Saleikana, Dimirimundaand Karadanga of Telkoi block in Keonjhar district.
India’s gold reserves
Most of Indian gold reserves and resources are concentrated in Karnataka and Rajasthan. The majority of these reserves are present in the state of Karnataka and account for 88% of the total; a further 12% are situated in Andhra Pradesh and an insignificant amount (less than 0.1t) are found in Jharkhand.
