KARACHI, Pakistan: Gold prices in Pakistan remained stable on Thursday, a day after hitting a record high in the domestic market.

According to rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold per tola stood unchanged at Rs 376,700, while 10-gram gold was recorded at Rs 322,959.

The precious metal remained steady at $3,540 per ounce in the international market, as well, with a premium of $20 applied to the price, APGJSA added.

The premium reflects additional costs, including import duties, exchange rate adjustments, and local market factors, added to the global price.

The surge in gold to unprecedented levels earlier this week has been attributed to a combination of global investor demand, expectations of US interest rate cuts, and sustained central bank buying.

Analysts note that despite the pause, momentum in the gold price is likely to continue in the weeks ahead.

The tola, a traditional South Asian unit of weight equal to approximately 11.66 grams, has long served as the benchmark for gold trade in Pakistan.

Its usage dates back to colonial-era standardisation in the 19th century, underscoring its deep cultural and commercial significance in regional bullion markets.
