In the international market, gold slipped by $10 to trade at $3,965 per ounce (including a $20 premium), as per APGJSA data.
Later in the session, spot gold in Asia gained 0.6 per cent to $3,953.04 per ounce, supported by a weaker US dollar and expectations of extended policy easing after the Federal Reserve’s rate cut.
The price of silver remained unchanged at Rs 5,034 per tola.
Local jewellers said the decline could encourage limited festive buying, though overall demand remains soft after weeks of record highs.
