ALASKA: A mysterious golden egg has been discovered at the bottom of the sea in the Gulf of Alaska, Western media reported on Thursday.
Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) say the object was located two miles deep in the sea.
NOAA in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) said that the golden body resembles an egg casing. Researchers think that it could be the remains of a sea sponge.
NOAA experts discovered the shiny body 250 miles off the coast of Southern Alaska during an expedition aimed to record areas of the ocean that have never been seen by humans.
This golden orb, likely an egg casing, struck an imaginative chord for many watching yesterday.
Today we dive on Denson Seamount. ROVs are launching & will remain on the seafloor until ~ 3:45pm ADKT/7:45pm EDT.

The egg was then picked up for testing in a laboratory.
As two-third of life is under deep sea still to be discovered, the finding of golden egg could mark an exciting new era for science.
