OHIO: Amber Glenn secured the women’s gold medal at the US Figure Skating Championships on Friday in Columbus, Ohio.

Despite a challenging free skate that included late mistakes, Glenn’s overall performance, including a successful triple axel, propelled her to the top of the podium with a total score of 210.46 points.

The defending champion, Isabeau Levito, who was second after the short program, faltered in her free skate, falling three times and settling for the bronze medal.

Josephine Lee, aged 15, claimed the silver medal with a strong free skate, totaling 204.13 points. In the men’s competition, Ilia Malinin, known as the “Quad god,” dominated the short program with two quadruple jumps and a triple axel.

The 19-year-old, son of Russian-born Olympic skaters, earned 108.57 points, securing a substantial lead. Maxim Naumov took second place with 89.72 points, and Jason Brown claimed third with 89.02 points.

Malinin, aiming for a repeat national title, will compete in the free skate final on Sunday. He has previously landed a quadruple axel in competition, showcasing his exceptional quadruple jump skills.

The skater has not yet decided whether to include a quad axel in the free skate but expressed gratitude for overcoming recent skate malfunctions and delivering a strong performance.”
