NEW YORK: Renowned supermodel Gisele Bündchen has courageously shared her struggles with mental health during the height of her successful modeling career. In an episode of CBS News Sunday Morning, Bündchen speaks candidly about experiencing panic attacks and feeling suffocated while working in studios.

During the interview, Bündchen disclosed that she suffered from panic attacks during photoshoots, describing a sensation of being in “tunnels” and feeling unable to breathe. “I couldn’t breathe. And then I started being in music studios, and I felt badly suffocated,” she said. “I would be hyperventilating. … You know when you cannot breathe although when the windows are open, you feel like, I do not want to live anymore like this, you understand what I mean?”

When asked if she ever planned suicide during those challenging moments, Gisele Bündchen admitted, “Yes. For, like, a second.”

Gisele Bündchen Shares Mental Health Struggles

This is not the first time Gisele Bündchen has shared her mental health struggles. In her 2018 memoir, “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life,” she revealed similar experiences. “The idea swept over me then: Maybe it will be easier if I just jump. It will be all over,” she wrote. “I can get out of this.”

Reflecting on those challenging times, she expressed empathy for her younger self, saying, “When I think back on that moment, and that 23-year-old girl, I want to cry. I want to convey to her that everything will be all right, that she has not even begun her life. But in that moment, the only answer seemed to be to jump.”

During the promotion of her memoir, Bündchen revealed, “I actually had the feeling of, ‘If I just jump off my roof, this is going to end, and I never have to worry about this feeling of my world closing in.'”

Now 43 years old, Gisele Bündchen emphasizes that she is “living” as opposed to merely “surviving” as she did in the past. Her willingness to discuss her mental health struggles openly is a testament to her strength and resilience and serves as an important reminder of the importance of seeking help and support when facing such challenges.
