The summary contains six names of the most senior officers
In a tweet tonight, DG ISPR said that GHQ had forwarded a summary to the Defence Ministry for the appointment of new CJCSC and COAS that contain six senior Army officers’ names.

Outgoing COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa will be retired on November 29.
The Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, on November 29, 2019, gave him a three-year extension.

The next army chief’s appointment will be announced on November 26 before the outgoing chief of staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, retires on November 29, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said.

Khawaja Asif’s statement comes hours after he told the National Assembly that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the appointment of a new army chief had received his message to the General Headquarters (GHQ). “This process will take two or three days. Happiness will end after that; we will deal with Imran Khan,” he said. “The process for appointment to the highest posts in the Pakistan Army has started today,” the minister said in Geo News’ Capital Talk.
“The Prime Minister, in a letter to the Ministry of Defence, requested the names and files for the appointment of the next army chief. The ministry asked the GHQ to send the file on the appointment.
Procedure for the Appointment of COAS
According to paragraph 3 of Article 243 of the Constitution, the President shall appoint the three chiefs of the armed forces and the chairman of the Committee on Public Service with the country’s Prime Minister’s advice.
By the procedure mentioned in the Act, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) writes a letter and requests a summary from the Ministry of Defense. This information seeks the names of the highest-ranking commanders from the outgoing army chief.
