ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Akua Sekyiwa Ahenkora, Head of Ghana’s Foreign Service Training Institute, called for stronger ties between Ghana and Pakistan, particularly in bilateral trade relations.
Addressing a roundtable discussion at the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), she stressed the importance of collective action among states, especially developing nations, in tackling transnational challenges.
Ambassador Ahenkora highlighted the significance of South-South cooperation in addressing emerging global issues such as climate change and cyber security. She shared her positive impressions of Pakistan from her first visit, stating that it helped dispel misconceptions and fostered a deeper understanding of the country.
Drawing from her experience, she advocated for increased people-to-people interactions between Pakistan and Ghana, noting the significant contribution of the Pakistani community to Ghana’s economy and bilateral relations.
Furthermore, Ambassador Ahenkora urged Pakistani authorities and businesses to organize Pakistani product exhibitions in Ghana to enhance exports. She also mentioned that 34 Ghanaian diplomats had received training at Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy.
President of IRS, Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, highlighted the importance of Africa’s growing role globally and Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with African nations, including Ghana.
