ISLAMABAD: Ghana’s Honorary Consul General Dr. Shahid Rasheed Butt and Vice Consul Omar Shahid Butt hosted a grand reception at their home in honor of the country’s 67th National Day. Several diplomats, senators, parliamentarians, and high-ranking military and civil officials attended the ceremony.
The reception was attended by Eric Owusu Boateng, the Ghanaian High Commissioner stationed in Iran. Sheheryar Akbar Khan, the additional secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Africa, and Foreign Secretary Cyrus Qazi both attended this exceptional diplomatic occasion. The ambassadors of Nepal, Jordan, Finland, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Japan, Hungary, and France were among those who took part in the ceremony. The dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ata Jan, the ambassador of Turkmenistan, the dean of Africa, and the ambassador of Morocco, Mohammed Karmoun, were also present.
Participants included top officials from the United States, Sudan, Egypt, Somalia, Cyprus, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, and the European Union, as well as the French Defense Attaché.
Secretary General of the People’s Party Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, renowned banker Farooq Hasan, and former president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce Bashir Dawood were also present at the event.
The ceremony featured the playing of both countries’ anthems and the cutting of a ceremonial cake. In his address, Eric Owusu highlighted Ghana’s significance as a gateway to Africa and commended Pakistani investors for their substantial investments in the country.
He emphasized the potential for further bilateral cooperation, especially in economic and trade sectors, and expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Dr. Shahid Rashid Butt and Umar Shahid Butt in strengthening commercial and public relations between the two nations.
Owusu lauded their robust diplomatic strategies, expressing confidence that the relationship between Pakistan and Ghana would continue to flourish under their leadership, reaching new heights in the future.
