ISLAMABAD: Qatar’s prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Thursday.
The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest during the meeting. They also vowed to further enhance cooperation in various sectors, including energy, education, and the environment.
The two sides reviewed the stabilization process of the ceasefire in Gaza and the provision of assistance to the Palestinian people, with Sheikh Mohammed reiterating his country’s condemnation of the bombing of innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip. He also welcomed the deal reached in Jeddah between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Force, while affirming his government’s respect for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, Arab News reported.
Qatar and Germany ties
Baerbock lauded bilateral relations between the two nations and said that both countries agreed to strengthen their cooperation by forming new strategic talks. The talks covered a wide range of political and economic matters, as well as stability, peace, and the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The German Foreign Minister said that Qatar and Germany will cooperate to secure energy supplies, saying that the two nations are keen for this economic partnership to succeed. She called for expanding international cooperation in the renewable energy area.
