FRANKFURT: Germany said on Wednesday it had organized a second military flight to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon after Israel launched ground operations in Lebanon and Iran fired ballistic missiles at Israel.

An Airbus A330 MRTT departed for Beirut to pick up 130 German nationals classified as “particularly vulnerable,” according to a joint statement from Germany’s foreign and defence ministries.

This flight also transported approximately 5,000 kilograms (11,000 pounds) of humanitarian aid from the German Red Cross, primarily consisting of medical supplies such as infusion equipment and bandages, aimed at providing emergency care for Lebanon’s civilian population.

This evacuation effort follows the extraction of around 110 passengers from Lebanon earlier in the week. The German government emphasized the precarious security situation, stating, “The situation in the Middle East remains extremely volatile.”

Meanwhile, other countries, including France, Spain, Britain, and Canada, are also working to evacuate their citizens from Lebanon as regional tensions continue to rise.
