Berlin: On Sunday, October 9 2022, Germany Annalena Baerbock, has said that perpetrators behind Iran’s harsh crackdown on demonstrators be brought to justice and criticized individuals who “condemn to death persons who want nothing more than to live free” in an interview with a German publication. She added that those elements are on “the wrong side of history” who “beat up ladies and girls on the street.”
According to BBC News, Baerbock added that Germany will seek European Union to freeze assets and enforce entry restrictions on Iran.

Background of Iran Protests:
The 22-year-old girl Mahsa Amini died on 16 September 2022 during custody of morality police of Iran for violation of hijab regulations. In reaction, Iranians are taking to the streets to condemn Amini’s killing in which dozens of Iranians have died.
According to the Norway-based Iran Human Rights Association, 19 children have been killed in the protests, which so far has resulted in deaths of at least 185 people.
Iran’s state media has stated that 20 members of the police, security forces, and Islamic Revolution Guard Corps have been killed.
When President Ebrahim Raisi visited a university in Tehran on Saturday, it was claimed that female students yelled “go lost” at him. The nation’s state television network was also hacked on Saturday which showed the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, on viewers’ screens after a mask, encircled by flames.
