BERLIN: German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will visit Israel on her fourth trip on Sunday since the beginning of the Gaza war, said a spokesperson from the German Ministry.

During her visit, Baerbock is scheduled to hold talks with Israel’s new Foreign Minister Israel Katz and meet with President Isaac Herzog.

Moreover, she plans to hold talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmud Abbas and Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki.

Following her engagements in Israel, Baerbock will proceed to Egypt, where she is scheduled to meet with her counterpart Sameh Shoukry, and she also has plans to visit Lebanon.

The discussions will primarily focus on addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the situation in the West Bank, and the extremely volatile conditions on the Israel-Lebanon border.

Baerbock said, during a Berlin press conference on Friday, that the coexistence of Israelis and Palestinians in peace relies on mutual security.

She explained Germany’s clear stance on the post-conflict scenario, stating that there should be “no occupation of the Gaza Strip, no expulsions, and no reduction in the size of the territory.” She was speaking alongside her counterpart from Luxembourg.
