ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started printing nomination papers ahead of the general elections-2024, local media said citing sources.
They said that additional nomination papers will be handed over to the returning officers on demand as the ECP would initially hand over nominations as per the number of candidates in a particular constituency.
Candidates for general, women and minority-reserved seats will use white-coloured nomination papers. The electoral body has also devised a policy for the issuance of cards to international observers to cover the polls as it introduced a digital information application.
Sources said the printing of accreditation cards carrying special features for international observers is in its final stage. Meanwhile, international observers can obtain visas through the online service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide complete list of international observers to the electoral watchdog.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior will carry out the security clearance of the international observers. The ECP has already sent formal letters to various forums, including the European Union and the Commonwealth in this regard.
