MAKKAH: The Grand Mosque has witnessed a large turnout of worshippers and Umrah performers today, supported by a comprehensive system of services, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday. This included guidance, direction, as well as organizational efforts from the staff of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, along with relevant crowd management authorities, the SPA added.
Transportation services were also provided in areas like Al-Masaa and the Mataf (circumambulation track), with golf carts available to help older people and people with disabilities. Zamzam water distribution, cleaning, as well as sterilization services were also implemented to ensure worshippers’ comfort and peace of mind.
The authority has also dedicated all available human and mechanical resources at the Grand Mosque to serve worshippers efficiently. More than 5,000 regular and electric carts have been made available for Umrah performers as well as those attending Friday prayers. These carts are linked through the Tanaqol Application and operate under systematic plans, which include intensified sterilization processes and supervision of cart drivers, the SPA added. Supervisors are also stationed at the Grand Mosque entrances to warmly welcome worshippers, direct them to their designated areas, as well as manage the flow of entry and exit, guiding them to prayer areas and facilities within the Grand Mosque and its outer courtyards.
