RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan affirmed that GCC countries would spare no effort to defend their territories and mobilize all available capabilities to preserve regional stability.
“GCC countries will continue exerting all efforts to defend their territories and mobilize all available capabilities to support regional security and preserve stability,” they said.
The two leaders made the remarks during a phone conversation on Monday, in which they condemned continued Iranian attacks against Gulf states as a dangerous escalation threatening regional security, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
“Continued Iranian attacks against the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) represent a dangerous escalation threatening the security and stability of the region,” they added.
Regional authorities say thousands of Iranian missiles and drones have been launched toward the Gulf since the conflict began in late February, hitting airports, ports, energy infrastructure and civilian areas across the region.
The UN Security Council last week adopted a resolution — backed by 13 of 15 members and co-sponsored by 135 countries — condemning Iran’s attacks and demanding an immediate halt to hostilities.
Earlier, the Asian ambassadors expressed their strong condemnation of Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, Gulf States affirming solidarity with the Kingdom’s efforts to preserve regional security and stability.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji held a meeting on Sunday in Riyadh with the ambassadors of Asian countries to the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The Asian ambassadors strongly condemned the recent Iranian attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, Gulf States, and several other Arab and Islamic countries, while praising the Kingdom’s efforts to maintain regional security, protect Saudi territory, and effectively respond to all acts of aggression.
