NEW YORK: The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the Arab States, Jasem Albudaiwi, expressed the shared goal of GCC member states and Uzbekistan to strengthen their cooperation and anticipate the adoption of a joint work plan beneficial to their interests.
These remarks were made during a meeting between Albudaiwi and the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City.
GCC and Uzbekistan Strategic Dialogue with Central Asian Nations
During the meeting, they discussed the outcomes of the joint ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between the GCC and Central Asian countries, which took place on September 7.
Additionally, strengthening relations between the GCC and Uzbekistan was a prominent topic during the meeting.
Both parties expressed their readiness to proceed with a joint work plan based on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in 2021.
Albudaiwi commended Uzbekistan’s efforts during its chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in 2022.
