RIYADH: A meeting of foreign ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Sunday denounced Israel’s continued construction of settlement units in occupied Palestinian territories, Arab media reported.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the ministerial meeting was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ministers dismissed Israel’s attempts to annex settlements, which they said was in contravention of the UNSC resolution. The Ministers asked the world to press Israel to reverse its settlement policies.
GCC Ministers Strongly Condemn Israeli Settlements in Palestinian Territories
The GCC also condemned Israel’s assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque and its attempts to Judaize Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, the GCC praised Riyadh’s efforts, in cooperation with the Arab League and European Union, to revive the Arab Peace Initiative and challenge Israeli violations and breaches. It also lauded the support and help of GCC nations for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees.
The GCC also reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty of the Palestinians in all Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, and the constitution of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital city.
The session of GCC also appreciated the success of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in hosting several key global and regional events, including the Arab League Summit in Jeddah, while emphasizing the importance of unifying Arab nations.
The meeting also appreciated the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for their achievements in space exploration, and scientific research.
The GCC discussed enhancing further joint Gulf action and developments concerning Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Afghanistan and Ukraine conflict.
