GCC Head Welcomes Restoration of Talks Between Sudan’s Army, RSF

RIYADH: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) chief Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has welcomed the resumption of dialogue in Jeddah between representatives of Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

The GCC Secretary General hailed the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the US with all parties to remove hindrances and difficulties impeding the restoration of dialogue, the SPA added.

According to the SPA, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi also appreciated the parties in Sudan for responding to the restoration of dialogue, which take place with the participation of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and African Union.

He stated this response by the parties confirms their enthusiasm and complete commitment to the sovereignty and to the preservation of the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, the SPA reported. The GCC Secretary General said he looks forward to the dialogue helping reach a permanent, comprehensive, and peaceful solution that preserves the sovereignty of Sudan and achieves the aspirations of the people of Sudan in achieving peace, security, development and political stability.
