GILGIT, Pakistan: The government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has decided to call for the Pakistan Army’s assistance in safeguarding the lives and property of the region’s residents.
A high-level meeting presided over by the Chief Minister conducted a thorough assessment of the current situation in GB. In addition to this, they also resolved to deploy Rangers, GB Scouts, and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in major cities within these northern areas.
This meeting was attended by the GB Chief Minister, Home Minister, Law Minister, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, law enforcement officials, and representatives from various other law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
The Home Department has promptly implemented Section 144 to prohibit unauthorized gatherings and road blockades.
Furthermore, the meeting determined that decisive action would be taken against those who publicly insult any religion’s beliefs and holy figures during gatherings.
They committed to taking all necessary measures to uphold law and order while ensuring the uninterrupted operation of businesses and tourism activities under all circumstances.
The meeting also appealed to the public, urging them to demonstrate unity and harmony in supporting the government’s efforts. —APP
