TEGUCIGALPA: Honduras on Friday recalled its envoy from Israel while condemning the ongoing genocide of Palestinians and other serious violations of international law in the Gaza Strip.
Foreign Minister of the country Eduardo Enrique Reina in a post on X, formerly Twitter, said that President Xiomara Castro had decided to immediately recall the ambassador in light of the serious humanitarian violation and suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Recalling envoy, a way to draw attention toward humanitarian situation in Gaza
Reina told the western media that recalling the ambassador was a way to draw attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He said the government decided to recall the envoy until the situation was clearer. Ties with Israel remain stable and Honduran diplomats and staff will remain in the embassy, he added.
He stressed the need for a recent United Nations resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, respect for humanitarian law and to start a dialogue for peace.
