JERUSALEM: The families of the hostages released by Hamas have expressed mixed emotions, fearing for those left behind, media reported on Saturday.

After initial medical examination, the released hostages were taken to be reunited with their families. According to the doctors, they appeared to be in good physical condition and likely to undergo more evaluations.

Meanwhile, Israel has received list 2 of hostages to be freed from Gaza today (Saturday) by Hamas, said the officials, following the release of 24 hostages on Friday, the first day of a planned four-day truce.

According to a statement by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli security officials were reviewing the list. Israeli government has vowed to work for the release of all hostages taken by Hamas in an attack on Israel on October 7.

The pause in the fighting was the first such break, with both sides saying hostilities would resume as soon as the ceasefire ends. US President Joe Biden, however, has expressed hope the pause could be extended.

On Friday, the released hostages, including children, Israeli women and Thai farm workers, were taken from Gaza and handed to Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing, along with eight staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross in a four-car convoy, said the organisation.

They were then taken to Israel for medical checkup and re-unions with families. Qatar said as many as 13 Israelis had been released, some with dual nationality, as well as 10 Thais and a Philippine national — farm workers employed in southern Israel when they were kidnapped.
