GAZA: The Gaza Health Ministry reported on Sunday that at least 40,405 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and 93,468 others injured in the ongoing Israel military bombardment campaign since October 7, 2023.
The latest casualties include 71 deaths and 112 injuries reported in the past 24 hours, which the ministry described as three separate “massacres” carried out by Israeli forces.
The statement from the Gaza Health Ministry described the recent attacks as devastating, with many civilians still trapped under rubble or stranded in inaccessible areas due to the ongoing violence. Rescue operations have been severely hampered by the scale of destruction and the intensity of the bombardment.
Despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel has intensified its military actions, resulting in extensive damage to Gaza’s infrastructure and severe humanitarian crises.
The Israeli blockade of Gaza, which has been in place for years, has exacerbated the situation by causing acute shortages of essential supplies, including food, clean water, and medical resources. The blockade has left much of the region in a dire state, with significant parts of the territory reduced to rubble.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has been addressing accusations of genocide against Israel, particularly concerning its military operations in the southern city of Rafah. The ICJ has issued an order to halt operations in Rafah, where over one million Palestinians had sought refuge before the area was invaded on May 6, 2024.
